George McLain Obituary
George Wallace McLain, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marianne; Devoted father of children George Jr. (Grace) and Julianne McLain-Harper; loving grandfather of Suzanne (Ted), Torie (Brad), James, Christopher and Matthew; great grandfather to Aubree and Lucas; faithful brother to sister Hazel McLain.
George was an engineering graduate of Auburn University and also received a Masters in Business from Xavier University. He was a 43 year veteran of General Electric and for many years was an Ambassador of GE Insurance Options for Seniors. A veteran of the Armed Forces, he retired as a Colonel in the US Army, Korea, and the Army Reserves. He was a 17 year volunteer usher at the Aronoff Center.
A faithful member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, during his 56 year membership George served as an elder and Bible Study facilitator. He continued to serve as a Bible Study facilitator after his move to Evergreen Retirement Community.
A memorial service will be held in George's memory on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11am at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 703 Compton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231. Please direct memorials to one of George's favorite charities: SPCA, Northminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, US Veterans, or the charity of your choice.
