Albert Kammer "Butch"
Beloved husband of 49 years to Carol Kammer (nee Meyerenke), loving father of Katie Kammer, Jason (Heather) Kammer, Heather (Joe) Huddleston and Kellie Kammer, dear grandfather of Grace, Olivia, Stella, Camden, Kellen and Crew, dear brother of Dan (Marlene) Kammer, Marilyn (Bob) Zimmerman and the late Eileen (Ed) Tejada and Elizabeth Kammer, uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023. Age 79.
Butch was a loyal employee of Hamilton County where he served as a Building Inspector for nearly 38 years. He was also a proud small business owner of two Price Hill establishments, The Lyon’s Den and the 51 Bar.
After selling the bars, he worked part-time for the Cincinnati Reds and their security firm for nearly twenty years. He was even highlighted in a Cincinnati Enquirer article that featured the quote, “Butch knows his baseball,” after he predicted a game-winning home run off Giants closer Rod Beck.
Butch certainly did know his baseball. He played varsity for four years at Elder High School (class of 1963) where he was a multi-sport athlete and state champion. He had multiple offers to play professional baseball, but instead chose to play in college. He also coached many teams, from youth through college ages. In recognition of his amateur success, he was a 2023 Price Hill Baseball Old Timers Hall of Fame inductee, joining his father, Frank, class of 1982
