Barbara Masters, a cherished figure in the Cincinnati community, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on January 9, 1929, she was the daughter of Harry and Jane Fisher and later became a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Barbara dedicated a significant part of her career to McAlpin's Department Store, where her warm personality and sincere smile brightened the lives of both customers and colleagues alike. She was not only known for her work but also for her passions and hobbies, which included ceramics, gardening, and puzzles. The joy she found in these activities was evident in her life, and she often shared that joy with her family.
A graduate of Western Hills High School, Barbara was a loving mother to Nancy (Ray) Gertler and Skip (Diane) Masters. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Amy, Jennifer (Brian), Craig (Krista), and Kari (Tyson), and as a great-grandmother to Ashley, Lindsey, Dominic, Mia, Logan, Andrew, Andrea, Remington, and Wesson. Her family was her greatest accomplishment, and she often reminisced about the joy of being married to her husband, Stanley "Skip" Masters, for an incredible 69 years.
Barbara was a woman of great kindness and compassion, described by many as the sweetest lady with a caring nature. Her home was a gathering place, filled with love and warmth, particularly during Sunday dinners where her renowned pie-making skills were surely the highlight.
She is survived by her loving family and friends, including her sister, Penny Angoff, who will miss her dearly. Barbara's legacy will live on through the many lives she touched with her unwavering love and gentle spirit.
