Betty M. Luckey

Betty Mae Luckey (née Lauterbach), 99, of Delhi, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026. She was born July 13, 1927.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Delhi, and she loved her community deeply. She enjoyed little kids more than adults-their energy, laughter, and curiosity were her favorite kind of “company.” She had a special way of making children feel comfortable and important, and she always seemed to brighten when they were near.

Betty played cards often and with great focus, and she loved activities that kept her sharp and engaged. She was the kind of woman who never forgot the details that mattered. Betty knew everyone’s birthday, and she carried a warm, steady thoughtfulness into every conversation and every occasion.

Her devoted career as a bank teller spanned more than 50 years, where she became a familiar and trusted presence for customers and coworkers alike. She retired after a long, dedicated working life, leaving behind a legacy of patience, integrity, and care.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, August & Eleanor Lauterbach; sister, Virginia (James) Collins; daughter, Virginia Witte, and granddaughter, Holly Luckey.

She is survived by her son, Frank (Mary) Luckey; Grandchildren: Gwendelyn (Mike) Volpe, Melissa (Mike) Wegman, Jennifer (Cor) Hagen, Christopher (Jenni) Luckey and Richard (Kayla Jo) Luckey; Great grandchildren: Colton Volpe, Tanner Volpe, Brody Volpe, Brittany (Ryan) Armstrong, Michael Wegman, Zachary Wegman, Sam (Rylie) Byse, Jack (Elly) Byse, Max Byse, Sebastiaan Hagen, Avery Luckey, Emma Luckey, Reese Luckey, Zoe Luckey, Emily Luckey, Megan Popp, Demi Demicco; Great-Great grandchildren: Maisley, Emery, and Josie Armstrong; Jason and Jeter Alvarado; Cason Byse; and Saint Telemaque. Numerous nieces and nephews spanning multiple generations.

Betty will be remembered for her sharp mind, her love of travel, her kindness toward children, and the way she made people feel remembered. Her love and steady spirit will remain with all of us who were lucky enough to know her.

Her visitation will be Friday, July 31st from 9 AM until 10 AM at Vitt, Stermer, Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. William Church 4108 W. 8th Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery. Donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Betty’s honor.
