Carol Sue Shaw, a vibrant soul with an indomitable spirit, was born on May 16, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio. After a lifetime filled with laughter and love, she peacefully departed from this world on February 1, 2026.
Carol was a graduate of Western Hills High School, and she carried the lessons and friendships forged there throughout her life. A mother of four, she devoted herself to raising Robert (Kristin) Shaw, Marvin Shaw, David (Cathleen) Shaw, and Carlotta (the late Steven Wilburn) Shaw with unwavering love. Her pride and joy were evident in her children’s achievements, and she cherished each moment spent together—whether at lively picnics at East Fork or simply enjoying family time in their cozy home. Carol's enthusiasm for life was contagious; she loved a good party, and her fun, spunky demeanor often filled the room with laughter. She was known for her unique approach to life that was unapologetically “Her way or No way.”
A doting grandmother, Carol reveled in the company of her grandchildren—Bobby, Vincent, Brittany, Brandi, DJ, Brandon, Austin, Mallory, Justin, Cassandra, and Tiffany—and her heart expanded even further as she embraced the role of great-grandmother to Damian, Amos, Zane, Lylah, Eli, Gracelan, Liam, and Elisha. The legacy of love she leaves behind is evident in the warmth and unity of her family, who consider her their greatest supporter.
Carol had a passion for dance and found solace in music, especially the timeless tunes of Elvis, George Strait and Dolly Parton. She delighted in playing bingo, a pastime that often brought her close to friends and family alike. Her sense of humor, coupled with a strong personality, made every gathering and every conversation unforgettable.
She will be dearly missed by her family, including her mother, her sisters—Peggy (late Dale) Durbin and Mazie Hammonds—who carry her spirit in their hearts. Carol also reunited in eternal rest with her loving husband of over 50 years, Robert Shaw, and her parents, Marvin and Leatha Scott, along with her sisters Marie Skidmore and Helen Wesley.
Visitation will be Monday, February 9th at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home, 4619 Delhi Rd. from 10:00 a.m. until time of service 12:00 p.m.
As we honor the life of Carol Sue Shaw, we celebrate her remarkable ability to bring joy and connection to all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her proudest accomplishments were witnessing the graduation of her children and being a part of the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol’s legacy will forever live on through the countless memories shared, the laughter echoed in family gatherings, and the love that continues to bind her family together.
