Carol Ann Shook, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 2,2024, at the age of 87. Born on April 18, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Carol lived a life filled with love, warmth, and connection, one that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Carol Ann devoted a significant part of her life to her family, nurturing with a love that knew no bounds. She was the loving wife of the late William C. Shook for over 60 years, creating a partnership that was a source of inspiration for many. Her legacy continues through her children: Diane (the late Bruce) Tuchfarber, Nancy (Robert) Tuchfarber, Christopher (the late Nadine) Shook, Michael Shook, and Kathryn Shook. Each of them carries pieces of her spirit, ensuring that the values she instilled will live on through future generations.
She embraced her role as grandmother with a joyful heart, leaving behind treasured memories for her grandchildren: Nicholas, Eric, Andrew (Amanda), Billy (Sara), Heather, Hydie, Justin, Alayna, Eva, Kenneth, and Alex, as well as her great-grandchildren: Aiden, Griffin, Grace, Luke, Kimberlee, William, Michael, Aryanni, Ellyana, James, Katana, and Kareem. Carol took immense joy in being surrounded by her family and often shared stories filled with laughter and life lessons, which will be forever held dear by those who loved her.
An easy-going lady, Carol Ann found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She had a particular fondness for hummingbirds and cowboys, both of which brought a smile to her face and warmth to her heart. Many will remember her soft hums echoing throughout the home, a comforting sound that was synonymous with her caring nature. Her work in the cafeteria at Wesley Hall exemplified her gentle spirit, as she served others with kindness and compassion, further showcasing her dedication to fostering a sense of community.
Carol’s educational journey began at Our Lady of Grace and Central High School, where she cultivated lifelong friendships. As the daughter of John and Thelma Sweeney, she was raised in a close-knit family, with sisterly bonds shared with John “Jack” Sweeney and Michael Sweeney, and a special connection with her sister-in-law, Rosemary "Bowie" Sweeney. These relationships were a treasured part of her life, adding to the depth of her experiences.
As we gather to celebrate her life, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on December 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, located at 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, OH. A Mass will be held on December 6, 2024, at Holy Family Church at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at St. Joseph New Cemetery at 11:45 AM.

She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate within the hearts of those she held dear.
