It is with heavy hearts and deep respect that we announce the passing of Dennis J. Mahoney, fondly known as “Denny,” who left us on July 12, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on October 28, 1952, Dennis’s life was marked by kindness, devotion to his family, and a spirit of helpfulness that touched all who knew him.
Denny was the beloved son of John and Margaret Mahoney, both of whom preceded him in death. From his earliest days, Denny exemplified the Mahoney family values—steadfast support, humility, and an unwavering sense of duty to those he loved. His siblings knew him as a loyal brother, one who could always be counted on for a helping hand or an encouraging word. Denny’s close-knit family grieves his absence, but holds fast to cherished memories.
He leaves behind his loving sisters Joyce (Donald Clayton) Mahoney, Margie (Lawrence) Vornberg, Mary (Steve) Hayes, and Lorain (Jerry Brown) Reynold; his brothers Jerry (Nettie) Mahoney and James (Darla) Mahoney; and many devoted nieces and nephews who will remember their uncle Denny for his warmth, laughter, and ever-present willingness to join in family gatherings. Denny is also reunited in peace with his brothers John (Charlene) and Thomas Mahoney, who preceded him in death.
Those who knew Denny best will remember not only his enduring dedication to family but also the gentle grace with which he cared for his loved ones. He was his mother’s “guardian angel” in her final days, watching over her with the compassion and devotion that defined his character. This seemingly quiet strength was felt by all, making Denny a pillar of support within his family.
Denny found joy in simple pleasures—a ride on his beloved scooter or joining in the commotion of a family get together brought him happiness and a sense of belonging. He loved nothing more than seeing those closest to him gathered, sharing stories and laughter, and he always looked for ways to help, offering his time and support without hesitation or expectation.
Through the highs and lows of life, Denny remained someone who wanted to make a difference for others, especially those he counted as family. His legacy is one of humility: a life measured not in accolades, but in moments of care, acts of service, and an ever-present willingness to extend a hand to those in need.
Family and friends are invited to honor Denny’s memory at a visitation on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45238. The funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Queen City Hospice.
Though Dennis J. Mahoney has departed from our sight, his example of steadfast love and gentle service will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
