Donald H. Thomason

Donald H. Thomason, known affectionately as Don to his family and friends, passed away on February 25, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on June 16, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Don led a life characterized by hard work, a practical approach to challenges, and an innate sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

As the owner of the Thomason Tile Company, Don was deeply dedicated to his career, leaving a mark on the local community through his business endeavors. His commitment to his work was mirrored by a sincere passion for life outside of it. Those who knew him fondly remember his enjoyment of reading the newspaper from front to back, particularly the comics, as well as his love for hiking in the Red River Gorge and spending weekends with friends playing cards.

Don is survived by his loving daughters, Patricia (the late Charlie) Dirr, Victoria (the late Micheal) Hendrick, Joyce (Keith) Haney, and Jennifer Thomason. He was a proud grandparent to Keith, Sherry (Mike), Kim (Eric), Michael (Brittany), and Angela (Patrick), Tommy, Dawn and he cherished his role as great-grandpa to Meghan, Gage, Jenna, Katie, Abby, Tommy, Aislyn, Michael III, Molly and great great-grandpa of Gabby. He was also the brother of Ken (the late Joyce) Thomason and the uncle of Karen Story.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Thomason (nee Dohme), and his grandson, Matthew. He was the devoted son of Evelyn Thomason and a cherished companion to June Briscoe. He also leaves behind his two fur babies Sophie and the late Max.

The visitation for Don will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, located at 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45238. A funeral service will follow the visitation, beginning at 12:00 PM in the same location. The graveside service will take place shortly thereafter at 12:45 PM at St. Joseph New Cemetery, 4500 Foley Road, Cincinnati, OH 45238.

As we remember Don, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love for his family and friends, cherished memories, and an enduring legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
