Donna J. Wendling, née O'Shea, was born on July 30, 1948, in Cincinnati, and her loving spirit left this world on June 8, 2026. Donna’s life was woven with kindness, dedication, and a great capacity for love—a combination that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
From an early age, Donna’s warm heart and gentle nature stood out. She graduated from Colerain High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Education degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph. Her passion for teaching blossomed into a remarkable career where she devoted over 25 years to nurturing young minds as a first-grade teacher at St. Dominic School. Through her years in the classroom, Donna was more than just an educator—she was a beacon of encouragement and compassion, instilling confidence and joy in all her students.
Donna’s life extended far beyond the classroom. She cherished her family above all else, and her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother to Becky (Chris) Malinowski, Michelle (Brian) Hodgeman, and Anna (Jon) Conley, and a doting grandmother to Sarah, Ryan, Evan, Corey, Kelly, Alayna, and Gracie. Her family was her greatest joy and her enduring legacy, a testament to the love she so freely gave. Donna also held a special place in her heart for her siblings—Tom (Mary) O’Shea and Cherie (Chuck) Durst—and her numerous nieces and nephews, who will remember her as a caring and generous aunt.
Donna was united in marriage to Michael Wendling for over 47 wonderful years, sharing a life filled with mutual love and support. Together through life’s journey, their partnership was a cornerstone of strength and kindness.
Beyond her family and career, Donna embraced simple pleasures that brought her happiness and comfort. She was passionate about sewing and enjoyed playing games, especially solitaire—a quiet enjoyment that reflected her thoughtful and peaceful nature. An avid fan of Nascar racing, she found excitement and joy in the sport, often sharing that enthusiasm with those around her.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 17th at St. Dominic Church (Gathering Space) from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.
Those who knew Donna remember her as the very sweetest lady with the kindest heart—someone who would do anything for anybody, always ready with a smile, a listening ear, or a helping hand. Her warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on her community, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Fond memories of attending plays and teacher gatherings layered with laughter and camaraderie stand as a testament to her vibrant spirit.
Donna J. Wendling's departure leaves a space that can never be filled, yet her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication lives on thoroughly within the hearts of her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a shining example of selflessness and grace, and she will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
