Evelyn R. Cook

Evelyn R. Cook, born December 30, 1945, passed away at her lakehouse peacefully on July 28, 2026. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her beloved husband of 43 years, Alvin Cook. Evelyn’s 80 years were marked by a life devoted to her family, loved camping, and made countless memories with those closest to her.

Evelyn is a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her son, Steve (Angie) Cook and daughter, Vicki (Steve) Schmitt. Her warmth and loving spirit will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Tyler, Lexi, Jerry, Anthony (Megan), Nate (Alli) and Ashlynn, along with her great-grandson, Sammy. Evelyn is also fondly remembered by her brothers, Ronald (late Renate) Maifeld and Larry (Carolyn) Maifeld, and her sister Kathy (Dave) Ladow.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Hazel Maifeld and her brother, Hank (Izzy) Maifeld.

Evelyn embraced every moment spent camping and fishing with family and friends, always bringing laughter and togetherness wherever she went. HER lake house was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace and created lasting memories with loved ones. Evelyn’s devotion to her grandchildren was profound; she treasured every game, every story, and every hug. Oliver, her faithful dog, was always by her side on "his" golf cart. 

Her zest for life was evident in the little pleasures she relished—whether it was a fresh set of polished nails or a golf cart outing for ice cream. Evelyn enjoyed bringing people together in creating happiness with those she loved. She enjoyed displaying her Christmas village and was the Halloween Decorating Queen at the campground.

Evelyn worked as a teacher's aid for Cincinnati Public School and Hamilton County MRDD.  She also volunteered her time at the Krohn Conservatory painting artifacts and setting up displays. She especially loved the butterfly exhibit.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Evelyn at the visitation on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45238. Funeral services will be held at the same location immediately following the visitation at 11:30 AM.

Evelyn R. Cook’s strength, kindness, and unwavering love for her family leave an enduring legacy. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
