Beloved husband of the late Patricia Armstrong, loving father of Wayne Armstrong, Douglas (Judi) Armstrong, Kathleen (Ralph) Bollman and the late Louis Armstrong, Greg Armstrong and Guy Armstrong, grandfather of Jack Smith, Doug (Becky) Armstrong, Kandi Smith, Dennis (Shelly) Armstrong, Nikki Armstrong, Heidi Armstrong, Jimmy Armstrong, Chris Armstrong, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, beloved nephews and niece, Rickie, Vickie, Jay and Tim Covey. Preceded in death by his mother, Ollie Waller, and brother Jack Armstrong and sister Eva Mae Covey.
Henry Clinton Armstrong was born November 5, 1924, in Ludlow, Kentucky. Six months before his high school graduation, World War II erupted, prompting Henry to enlist in the military at the age of 18. Henry passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the age of 100.
He served in B Battery, 607th Field Artillery of the 71st Infantry Division as an ammunition handler, a pack artilleryman and later an artillery spotter. He also served in a L3 light reconnaissance aircraft known affectionately by the men who flew them as the "Grasshopper". Henry continued his military journey when the war ended and completed his service in 1984 as a command Sergeant Major.
Following the war, Henry was head meat cutter at Kroger supermarket, where he worked with his wife, Pat. They celebrated 64 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.
Visitation will be Friday, October 3rd at Grace Covenant Church, 6420 Bridgetown Rd., Cincinnati, 45248 from 10:30 AM until time of service at 12 Noon. Burial with Full Honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY at 2 PM.
