Howard Lee Brinkdoepke, known affectionately to many as Howie, passed away on April 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering dedication, warmth, and love. Born on October 30, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Howard's life was marked by service, commitment, and an enduring devotion to those he cherished most.
A proud graduate of Hughes High School, Howard later answered the call of duty with honor, serving his country during the United States Army Vietnam Era. His sense of discipline and integrity, forged in these formative years, were qualities that permeated every aspect of his life.
For over thirty-three years, Howard served as a Purchasing Agent for Queen City Metro, a role he fulfilled with professionalism and steadfastness. Yet, it was beyond the workplace where Howard truly shone; his proudest accomplishment was his family, around whom he centered his life and found his greatest joy.
Those close to Howard remember him as a loving, fun, honest, and extraordinarily caring soul. His warmth was often expressed through his passion for cooking, especially his beloved Cincinnati Chili recipe—a culinary gift he delighted in sharing with family and friends. The memories that linger most vividly are of treasured family moments and the sunlit vacations to Siesta Key, times when his genuine joy and playful spirit were most evident.
Howard was a devoted companion to Jeanne Mathes and a steadfast father to Todd (Jennifer) Brinkdoepke and Gena Brinkdoepke. He was a cherished grandfather to Sydney, Mitchell, and Lilly Brinkdoepke, whose lives he enriched with his love and guidance. His family circle also included his brother-in-law Joanne Brinkdoepke and his nieces Mandi, Jill, and Lori, who remember him as "Uncle Bub" a kind uncle with a generous heart.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Joy Brinkdoepke; his parents, Alice and Howard Brinkdoepke; and his brother, the late Gregg Brinkdoepke. Their memories remain a treasured part of his life story and continue to inspire those who knew him.
Howard Lee Brinkdoepke’s journey was one of profound affection and steadfast devotion. His legacy endures in the hearts he touched and the enduring laughter shared around family tables. He leaves behind a mantle of kindness and a reminder of what it means to live a life rich with love and integrity.
