Janet R. Steimle, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026. Born August 31, 1950, Janet’s life was marked by deep faith, enduring family devotion, and a spirited connection to those she loved.
Janet grew up in the Fairmount neighborhood, where she attended St. Bonaventure and Our Lady of Angels schools. Her early years laid the foundation for a life rich in family values and community commitment. She was known for her great faith and love for Jesus, which was a guiding light throughout her journey.
A devoted wife to her late husband Paul Steimle, Janet shared with him a memorable partnership that extended beyond their personal life into their entrepreneurial ventures. Professionally, Janet dedicated 20 years to Kroger, where she forged lifelong friendships and contributed meaningfully to the lives of her colleagues and customers alike. Yet, her greatest joy came from watching her grandchildren's sporting events, a testament to how family was at the heart of everything she did.
Janet leaves behind a devoted family who continue to cherish her memory. Her loving daughter, Greta Bayless, and son, Joe Steimle, along with daughter-in-law Kelly, carry forward her legacy. She was a proud grandmother to Tyler (Emily), Austin, Hunter (Dani), Hannah (Danielle), Jack, Paul, Ben, and Lacy. Her affection extended warmly to her great-grandchildren, Collins Mae, Kennedy Jo, and Wesley, who is eagerly awaited.

She was a deeply treasured aunt to Susie (Andy), Casey (Stacey), Steve (Jackie), Mike (Jen), Heather (Jeff), Holly (David), Annie (Amy), Matt (Jen), Tony, Andy (Gabby), and Rebecca, as well as many great nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her.
