Loretta H. Ohmer, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on December 12, 1928, Loretta lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her spirit of adventure, a sharp mind and deep connections with those she loved.
Loretta was known for her zest for life; she was a world traveler who embraced new experiences. Her passion for life extended to the joy she found in family outings and gatherings, where she cherished the time spent with her loved ones. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, and Catholic, Loretta remained active in her community, often seen engaging with others and enriching their lives with her warmth and generosity.
Through her community engagement, Loretta made many friends along the way. She loved horse racing, crafts and had a fondness for bingo, often accompanied by laughter and lively conversations. Her charitable nature and care for others made her a beloved figure in her family and friends, and she will be remembered fondly for her kind spirit and unwavering support for those in need.
Loretta joins her beloved husband, Melvin "Mike" Ohmer who fondly referred to her as "Retta", in eternal rest, along with her parents, Vincent and Louise Jacob, and her siblings: Rose Weis, Jeanette Leeds, Louise Miglarese, Vincent "Vinny" Jacob, and L. Paul Jacob. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews many of whom referred to her lovingly as "Aunt Lala", all of whom she leaves with a lasting legacy of love and kindness.
The visitation to honor Loretta’s life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Rd. (45238). Following the visitation, a Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church, 810 Neeb Rd. beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Church or a charity of your choice.
As we remember Loretta Ohmer, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, adventure, and a compassionate heart that touched so many lives. She will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
