Mary Louise Mitchell Bolton

January 13, 2026

Mary Louise Mitchell Bolton, who preferred to be called by her childhood nickname, “Mitch,” passed away on January 13 at the age of 101. She will be remembered by her family and by those who loved her as a resilient, loving, generous and kind woman with a talent for the arts.

Mitch always greeted everyone kindly, never complained, made the best of even the worst situations, and spread love everywhere she went, guided by her Christian faith and her belief in the value of all people.

Her remarkable artistic talent was expressed through poetry, acting in community theatre, singing in the church choir, and most notably by her extraordinary talent as a painter. Her oil paintings expressed her love for travel and nature and will continue to bring joy to all who see them.

Mitch was born on Dec. 30, 1924, in Pittsburgh, PA. She and her husband, the late John T. Bolton, together raised four children in Cincinnati, OH, and Brussels, Belgium, where Mitch learned to speak French and embraced European culture and art.

She is survived by her four sons, Roger, David (Debra), Richard (Lisa) and Lee (Barbara); seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Jennifer), Christopher (Caroline), Taylor (Wesley Hall), John, Timothy, Jack and Maxwell; and five great grandchildren, Anya, Lex, Astrid, Orin and Bruce. Mitch is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Mitchell, her stepbrother John Montgomery and her stepsister Ruth Ann O’Melia.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 28 in the chapel at Twin Lakes, a Life Enriching Community located at 9840 Montgomery Road, Montgomery, OH, 45242, where family and friends can gather to honor and remember a remarkable woman whose love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. This will be followed immediately by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Life Enriching Communities Foundation at Twin Lakes.
