Mary Carol Overberg "Carol", beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on December 23, 1939, in Cincinnati, Carol was a woman of many admirable qualities, known for her generous spirit and unwavering willingness to help those around her.
Carol graduated from Seton High School, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to service and care for her family and community. She was proud of her achievements, especially her family, which brought her immense joy throughout her life. Carol cherished her role as a mother to Doug (Missy) Overberg and Kim (late Dan) Ott, and her legacy will forever continue through her children and grandchildren.
As a grandmother, Carol found considerable delight in her grandchildren: Alissa (Ben) Riffe, Ian (Claire) Overberg, Meghan, Allison, and Emily Ott. Her heart swelled with pride as she embraced her role of great-grandmother to Vivian and Julia Overberg, building a bond with them that transcended generations.
Carol had a passion for gardening, proudly tending to her yard and creating a beautiful sanctuary that reflected her nurturing nature. She also enjoyed playing cards, often gathering with family and friends to share laughter and create lasting memories.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Geneva Buller, her devoted husband of 33 years, Robert E. Overberg, and her sisters, Lois Wolf and Janet (Gary) Ireland, her mother & father-in law, Lillian and Harry Overberg, Marion Ferguson, sister in law and Melvin Overberg her brother in law. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Ken Wolf and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, January 16th at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Rd. from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral blessing at 11 a.m.
Carol Overberg's spirit of generosity, love for her family, and commitment to her pursuits will long be remembered by those whose lives she touched. Her enduring legacy will continue through her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
