Starts at 10:00 am (Eastern time)
Mary Russo, a cherished soul whose life was marked by devotion, kindness, and unwavering love, passed away on June 15, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on February 2, 1944, Mary’s journey began in the very city where she would deepen her roots and touch the lives of all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Seton High School, Class of 1961, Mary carried with her the grace and poise instilled during those formative years. Her career as a title officer with Cincinnati Insurance Company exemplified her diligent work ethic and commitment to excellence, yet it was her role as a mother that defined her most profoundly. She was deeply devoted to raising her two children, a testament to her generous spirit and boundless compassion.
Mary’s personality shone brightly through her “gift to gab,” a natural ability to engage, comfort, and connect with others. Her giving nature and compassionate heart were evident to all—she was truly someone who cared deeply for those around her. Her home was filled with the warm aroma of freshly baked cookies and cheesecakes, a simple joy she delighted in sharing, alongside moments spent basking in the tranquility of her yard and pool. Avidly watching QVC was another small pleasure that brought her happiness and connection to everyday life.
The cornerstone of Mary’s proudest accomplishments was her family—her beloved husband, Donald Russo, to whom she was married for sixty years; her children Laurie Lee Russo and Brian Russo, who married Karol; and her cherished grandchildren, Parker Russo and Melanie Heldman. Just as she did with her children, she made sure to tell her grandchildren to- "Do their school work." Her love extended to aunts, many nieces and nephews, and a broader circle of family that held her dear.
Mary was the daughter of the late Harry and Marcella Pohlman, and sister to the late Marlene (Tony) Witsken, Janice (John) Beccaccio, and Angela (Nelson) Weisman, whose memories she carried with her always.
The community will gather to honor Mary’s life during a Mass to be held at St. Dominic Church, located at 4551 Delhi Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 22, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This sacred ceremony will provide a moment to reflect on the beautiful legacy Mary leaves behind—a legacy built on love, faith, generosity, and a true gift for bringing joy to those fortunate enough to know her.
Mary Russo’s life was a testament to the profound impact of kindness, family dedication, and heartfelt connection. In her passing, we celebrate a woman whose spirit will forever inspire, whose memory will remain ever bright in Cincinnati’s heart, and whose essence will continue to touch the lives of her family and friends.
