Michael J. Doppes

Michael J. Doppes, a respected attorney and beloved member of the Cincinnati community, passed away on January 13, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on August 8, 1957, in Cincinnati, Michael dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice through the practice of law, bringing kindness and generosity to all those he encountered.

Michael earned his academic credentials in the early 1980s, receiving an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., alongside a J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. His legal expertise spanned federal and state taxation law, estate planning, and general business law, culminating in a successful practice in Cincinnati that became a source of pride for him and the community he served.

In addition to his professional achievements, Michael was known for his warm-hearted nature and vibrant personality. He cherished lifelong friendships and was a kind, generous man who radiated positivity. An ardent Ohio State fan, he took great joy in supporting his team as well as attending various sporting events. Above all, he loved his family deeply, which was evident in every facet of his life.

Michael is survived by his father, Ricard Doppes; his siblings, Carolyn (Bernie) Joyce, Rick Doppes, and Cindy (Dave) Dewar; as well as his cherished nieces and nephews: Shannon (Joe) Buckner, Megan (Uriah) Collins, Chris (Michelle) Dewar, Nick (Kelsey Alphonso) Dewar, and Jamie Dewar. He was also a great uncle to Solomon, Mary Catherine, Mac, Rose, Archie, Quinn, Matthew, Emily, Jordan, and Lenna.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Doppes, and his late nephew, Joe Joyce.

A visitation will be held on January 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home Delhi, located at 4619 Delhi Pike, Cincinnati, Ohio. This will be followed by a memorial service at 7:30 PM at the same location.

Michael J. Doppes will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but for the love and joy he brought into the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a legacy marked by compassion, dedication, and a profound love for family and friends.
