Michael L. Helmers, born on November 9, 1962, in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on September 26, 2025. He dedicated over 35 years of his life as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, a profession that showcased both his commitment to service and his outgoing personality.
Michael was a proud alumnus of Oak Hills High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with laughter and joy. Known as the life of the party, he possessed a larger-than-life presence that could light up any room. His remarkable sense of humor and storytelling ability brought smiles and laughter to those around him, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by his loved ones.
In addition to his career, Michael had a wide array of interests that filled his life with joy. He was an avid golfer and a devoted fan of Cincinnati Bengals. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and most importantly, supporting his children in their sports endeavors. His love for sports was only surpassed by his love for his family, which stood as his proudest accomplishment.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Helmers (nee Graff), and is a devoted step-father to Brandon (Stephanie) Wood and Ryan (Haley) Wood. He was a grandfather of Charlotte, Sophia and Cameron. Michael was also the cherished son-in-law of Gary and Diane Graff. He leaves behind his siblings Ralph Helmers, David (Diane) Helmers, Beverly (Ed) Westerfield, Rick Helmers, and Mark Helmers, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marlene Helmers, and his sister, Tracey (Dave) Messerle.
Michael’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His vibrant spirit and the memories he created with his family and friends will forever be a source of inspiration for everyone fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Visitation will be Friday, October 10th at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Rd. from 10 am until time of funeral blessing at 12 Noon.
