Michele M. Cushman, affectionately known as Shelly, passed away on June 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by devotion, intelligence, and an unwavering spirit. Born on September 27, 1950, in Cincinnati, Michele’s journey was one of dedication both to her profession and her cherished family.
A proud graduate of Seton High School and the Cincinnati School of Public Nursing, Michele’s career was distinguished by her work with Wesley Hall, Price Hill Nursing Home, Kendle International, and Syneos Health, where her deep knowledge and compassionate nature made her a beloved colleague and an exemplar of hard work. Above all, she embraced her role as a nurse with unrelenting passion, seeing it not only as a profession but as a sacred duty—caring for family, friends, and those fortunate enough to cross her path.
Michele’s life was an exquisite tapestry woven with love, loyalty, and brilliance. She was a great friend and a devoted mother, recognized for her steadfastness and warmth. Her proudest accomplishments were grounded in her care for others and her insatiable thirst for learning, qualities that enriched her life and the lives of all who knew her.
At home, Michele was the heart of her family. She attended every sporting event of her children and grandchildren, cheering them on with contagious enthusiasm and pride. Her leisure hours were filled with joyous creativity—crafting with her children and grandchildren, ceramics, bracelet making, and spirited rounds of board games and euchre. Sunbathing and elaborate family cruises and vacations to Florida were among the treasured highlights that brought laughter and close bonds.
Though Michele’s beloved husband, Jeffrey D. Cushman, and her parents, George and Florence McKinney, have preceded her in death, her living legacy shines through her offspring and extended family. She is survived by her loving children Denise (Matt) Pelton, Tracy (Gary) Daugherty, Doug (Teresa) Cushman, and Christine (Doug) Bryant. Her grandchildren—Tyler, Kayla, Brenden, Maxwell, Brooklynne, Tenley, Mia, Everley, and Jenna—carry forward her spirit and vibrancy. Michele’s familial circle is further enriched by her siblings Michael (Peggy) McKinney, Cheryl Ruehl, Brian McKinney, and brother-in-law Dan Petzold, along with numerous nieces and nephews who knew her as a cherished aunt.
Michele was preceded in death by her sisters Maureen Petzold and Colleen McKinney, and her in-laws, Kevin Ruehl and Judy McKinney.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9th at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home 4619 Delhi Rd. from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, June 10th at St. Dominic Church at 10:00 a.m.
In reflecting upon Michele’s life, one is struck by a woman whose heart was expansive, whose intellect was keen, and whose presence was a source of strength and joy. She leaves behind a world brighter for her having graced it, a world enriched by her kindness, wisdom, and boundless love.
May her memory be a blessing and a guiding light to all who loved her deeply.
