Monica J Schirmer, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 2, 2026. Born on March 23, 1950, in Felicity, Ohio, Monica’s life was a tapestry woven with love, warmth, and a spirit that lifted everyone around her.

Monica graduated from Colerain High School and later from the Moler-Pickens Beauty Academy, setting the foundation for a remarkable career. For over 40 years, she served as a Financial Aid Officer at the Moler-Pickens Beauty Academy, a testament to her dedication and passion for helping others pursue their dreams. Through her work and her personal life, Monica was a shining example of kindness and perseverance.

Monica never met a stranger. Her infectious spirit and natural charm made everyone feel seen and valued. She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel good about themselves, never once complaining but always taking life’s challenges in stride. Those close to her remember Monica as a huge but harmless flirt, whose playful nature brought smiles to many faces.

Monica’s proudest accomplishments were her roles as a mom and grandma—titles she wore with immense pride and unconditional love. She was the cherished mother of Jamie (Melanie) Schirmer and Adam (Kara) Schirmer, and the devoted Nana to Freya Sue Schirmer, Hannah Reynolds, and Jonathen Reynolds. Her love extended even further as a great-grandmother to Adaline Rodgers.

Her family circle also included her siblings Denise (Danny) Windhorst and Jerry Houghton, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored her. Monica was the devoted wife of Robert "Bob" Schirmer for over 50 years, a partnership filled with enduring love and mutual respect. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Wilma Houghton, whose memories lived on in her gentle spirit.

Outside of family and career, Monica found joy in simple pleasures that reflected her creative soul. She loved to read, crochet, and immerse herself in arts and crafts. An artist at heart, she expressed herself through colors and textures that mirrored her vibrant personality. She cherished playing cards, bingo, and dominoes, especially with her friends at Colonial Heights, where her laughter filled the room like a warm embrace. Her constant companion and loyal friend was her beloved dog, Bozley, who shared in the quiet moments of joy.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 10th from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the White Oak Christian Church, 3675 Blue Rock Rd.

Monica was driven by her deep faith in Jesus Christ. She was a lifetime member at White Oak Christian Church where she and Bob were married.

Monica J Schirmer’s legacy is one of boundless love, unyielding strength, and a warmth that touched countless hearts. She leaves behind a world made infinitely better for having known her, a place forever touched by her light and grace. Though she has departed, the echoes of her laughter, her kind words, and the joy she found in life will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
