Nicole "Nikki" Ann Cooney, born on March 18, 1972, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026. Nikki will be remembered as a spirited, resilient, and deeply caring individual who lived her life on her own terms.

Nikki was the beloved daughter of Shelly Dwyer Bestfelt and the late Dan (Lori) Bestfelt. She cherished her relationships with her brother, Danny (Jana) Bestfelt, as well as her little bro, Michael Schroeder. Nikki is survived by her devoted son, Garrett Giltz, and loving daughter, Leah Giltz, both of whom were sources of immense pride and joy. She also leaves behind Daniel Bestfelt Jr., and Miranda Buster, along with close friends Gary Giltz, John Cooney and Marty Gbur.  She held a special place in the heart of her Godmother Peggy (Godfather the late Jim) Burns.

Throughout her life, Nikki honored the memories of family members who preceded her in death, including her father Dan Bestfelt, her grandparents Mike and Ruth Dwyer, and Ted and Mary Bestfelt. As a child she enjoyed many times with cousins at Grandma Ruth's Camp.

Nikki attended Diamond Oaks for Marketing, laying the foundation for her future pursuits. Known for her sense of humor, headstrong personality, and wholehearted devotion to her loved ones, Nikki found joy in the simplest of pleasures. She was a huge Bengals fan, truly life-hearted and comical, always brightening the lives of those around her and living her life on her terms. Her dogs held a special place in her heart, and she treasured her moments with them. Whether spending quality time with friends and family or enjoying games on her tablet and going to the Casino, Nikki’s presence brought a unique vibrancy wherever she went.

For the last eight years, Nikki bravely fought a battle with multiple sclerosis. Her courage, determination, and strength in the face of this illness inspired those who knew her. Even as she struggled, Nikki remained dedicated to helping others whenever she could, exemplifying compassion and generosity.

Nikki’s legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, and unwavering love. Her family and friends will hold dear the memory of her warm spirit and the happiness she brought into their lives. She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. A celebration of Nikki's life will be announced later.
