Ralph Thomas Wainscott, lovingly known as Tom, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and deep family devotion. Born on November 23, 1936, in Cincinnati, Tom’s life was a rich tapestry of love, adventure, and service to others.
A proud graduate of Taylor High School, Tom furthered his education at the University of Cincinnati, laying the foundation for a successful career as the owner of R T Wainscott Inc. Beyond his professional achievements, Tom’s greatest pride was always his wife and family. Married to Mary F. Wainscott for 68 wonderful years, their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect.
Tom's heart was ever-full of generosity—he would help anyone who needed it, embodying a spirit of selflessness and community support. His lifelong commitment to service was exemplified by his role as Boy Scout Leader at St. Dominic Church for many years, where he shaped the values of countless young minds. A stalwart of the South Western Ohio Conservation Club, he cared deeply for the land as the Forrester of the property, nurturing the environment with the same dedication he showed his family.
His passions brought him joy and connection — hunting, fishing, camping, and beekeeping were not just hobbies but ways he shared his love for the outdoors with those around him. Many cherish fond memories of Tom teaching his grandchildren how to hunt and fish, and the family’s vacations out west and travels around the world with his beloved wife are stories often recounted with warmth and laughter. Attending his grandchildren’s events was always a special occasion for Tom, reflecting the deep bond he held with each of them.
He leaves behind a loving circle of family who carry forward his spirit: his devoted wife Mary; children David and his wife Laura, and Mary Kay and her husband Mike; grandchildren Matthew (Stefanie), Ann Marie (Marc), Joseph (Jessica), Joshua, Christopher (Lynn), Kyle (Nicole); and great-grandchildren Micah, Hannah, Gabrielle, Ezekiel, Jack, Hazel, Amelia, William, Evelyn, Luke, Grant, and Theo. He will also be fondly remembered by his sisters Barbara Wainscott and Peg Kessler, along with numerous nieces and nephews who admired their uncle’s gentle strength.
Tom was preceded in death by his devoted parents Ralph and Catherine Wainscott, and his sister Betty Scudder. Though these loved ones have passed on, their memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the legacy he created.
Ralph Thomas Wainscott’s life was one marked by an unwavering commitment to family, community, and the natural world. His warmth, wisdom, and generosity enriched the lives of all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt. As we remember Tom, we hold close the precious moments shared and the enduring imprint of a life beautifully lived.
