Roger, 81, passed away Thursday surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret (nee Lyons); children Ryan (Aileen) Ernst and Amanda (Alexis Anderson) Barraza; and grandchildren, Margaret, Grace and Charlotte Ernst.

Roger was a 1963 graduate of Purcell High School and moved to the Westside after wedding Peggy in 1974. He was a parishioner at Our Lady of Victory, where he coached football for a number of years. He finished his professional career in 2008, retiring from Skilcraft’s purchasing department. An avid outdoorsman, Roger loved hunting at his in-laws’ farm in Meigs County. He also enjoyed playing golf, particularly with his former Purcell classmates.

He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry (Judy) Ernst, Dan Ernst, and Linda (the late Fred Haas), along with many nieces and nephews. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Victor and Catherine (nee Doll) Ernst.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 11th at Holy Family Church,  814 Hawthorne Ave., Cinti, OH 45205 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.
