Toby J. Coveney, 84, of Delhi Township, Ohio, passed away on March 16, 2026, with his loving wife and daughter by his side. Born on August 5, 1941, in North Carolina, he was the son of Juanita Moore (Glossen) and John B. Coveney, both deceased.
Toby grew up in Burlington, North Carolina, where he developed the steady determination and quiet strength that would define his life. Straight out of high school, he joined the United States Army, proudly serving three years in Germany — a time he often looked back on with fondness.
After returning home, Toby built a long and respected career in the automotive industry, dedicating more than 40 years to the work he loved. He was known for his reliability, his skill, and the easy way he connected with people. Toby cherished the friendships he made along the way, especially his lifelong friend Jack Riley, and he looked forward every year to golf trips with “the guys,” where laughter and stories were always guaranteed.
A man of simple joys and big passions, Toby had a deep love for NASCAR, collecting hundreds of die‑cast models over the years. But nothing meant more to him than his family. On March 21, 2026, he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ellen — a partnership marked by devotion, humor, and unwavering loyalty.
Toby is survived by his wife, Ellen Coveney; his daughter, Crystal Coveney (Andy Garttman); his daughter‑in‑law, Shari Coveney; his sister, Thurla Moore (Steve Becker); his sister‑in‑law, Kathleen Brown (Michael Brown); his niece, Genevieve McClure; his grandchildren, Jason Coveney, Dylan Coveney (Maggie), Clayton Garttman, and Chloe Garttman; and his great‑granddaughters, Arya and Leia Coveney. He was preceded in death by his son, Martin Coveney, and his sister, Constance Coveney.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28th, from 912 Noon until time of memorial service 1:30 p.m. at the Vitt, Stermer & Anderson Funeral Home, 4619 Delhi Road, Cincinnati, Ohio.
He will be remembered as an unforgettable man whose kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength shaped every life he touched. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he cherished, and the countless moments of laughter and devotion he leaves behind.
