Robert was born to Joe and Josephine Schlasinger on December 15th 1940

He grew up in a loving family and always displayed an interest and aptitude for anything mechanical or electrical. His childhood consisted of home-made crystal radio sets, building and flying model airplanes, and tinkering with anything he could take apart.

He grew up on the west side of Cincinnati attending Western Hills High School, where he played football and basketball. He often reminded us of the ribbon he received for “longest punt” in a local competition.

He left high school and joined the United States Air Force in 1958 becoming an electrician working on B52 bombers. He was part of the first squadron to fly a B52 aircraft around the world non-stop. While being stationed at Castle AFB in Merced California he met the love of his life Dorothy Vineyard. The two were married in California and following the completion of his enlisted career they moved back to Cincinnati where they raised three children, Rob, Vicky and Lisa.

Bob’s outgoing personality and “lets party” attitude meant he had a large circle of friends. As Dorothy often reminded us . . . Bob never met a stranger! He was always available for friends and family to help in any way he could. As an electrician by trade and a self-taught mechanic there was always a project going, whether it was re-wiring a friend’s house or repairing a car. The payment for many of these jobs would be beer and food, and he often joked about bidding jobs by the number of 6-packs it would take to complete them.

One constant throughout Bob’s life was jumping head-first into hobbies. Whether it was target and trap shooting, bowling, building speakers and stereo systems, archery or his most recent hobby of flying remote controlled airplanes . . . he was all in!

His most recent hobby allowed him to link his passion for warbirds with model aviation. This led him to join a local model airplane club where he cherished his time meeting with friends and learning how to fly the airplanes he built. He regularly talked about going flying or attending an airplane show with the Kentucky Boys!

Bob’s default answer to anything was YES! He followed his path in life with conviction and no regrets!

Bob leaves behind three loving children, eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

The children will organize a celebration of life get-together later this year and provide details as soon as available.

Rest in peace dad, or should we say at least let mom have a little bit of peace, sometimes…please!
